Former President Donald TRUMP has floated the idea of distributing tariff revenue to middle and lower-income Americans, suggesting a potential dividend or rebate check system. Speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force One, Trump indicated that such a move could be funded by the $100 billion already generated from tariffs, with projections reaching $300 billion annually.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed the tariff revenue figures, highlighting the financial viability of the proposal. Trump had previously mentioned rebate checks nearly two weeks ago, though he emphasized reducing the national debt as the administration's top priority. The U.S. federal debt currently exceeds $36 trillion, with the Big Beautiful Bill Act potentially adding $3.4 trillion to the deficit over the next decade.
